It’s officialtheUniversity of North Carolina baseball program has earned a National seed and will be hosting regionals of the NCAA tournament, bringing fans from across the nation to the Bosh.
Sunday was a good day to be a Tar Heel, as Selection Sunday revealed UNC would be 1 of 16 programs to host a regional round, sending social media into a frenzy. The Atlantic Coast Conference(ACC) tied for most regional hosts, with Clemson, Florida State, NC State, and Virginia joining the Tar Heels in hosting their region brackets. It was a shockerto notseeWake Forest, who finished with a record of 38-20, higher than NC State (33-20). Also despite winning the ACC championship, Duke didn’t get a hosting spot.
Thisis the thirteenth time UNC will host an NCAA regional round, and it’s easy to see why after securing the second-best record (42-13) of the 16 teams selected. The regional round isdouble-elimination,and scheduled to start Friday, May 31 to Monday, June 3 (if necessary).
The rest of the field has been released and it’s brutal. What many thought would be a cakewalk was deterred once LSU name appeared, but before we get there, wetake alook at how social media reacted to UNC snagging a host spot for Regionals and who ended up in their bracket.
