I have seen similar stuff with ships getting stuck in their old design and added like that to the fleetmanager (despite the player never having created this design and it also not appearing in the ship dedigner). For example u end up suddenly having 2-3 different battleshipdesigns in ur fleet with only one being able to autoupgrade.

This causes issues as the number of autoupgrade ships stays the same and those outdated design ships appearing in the fleetmanager are not counted towards the fleetcap calculation. The player ends up with a broken fleet, where he can infinitely hit the reinforcement button for an alrady full fleet and create hundreds if single ship fleets, which then spam the fleet manager.

I'm also seeing issues with the fleet manager that makes the game almost unplayable.

I'm continuing a game that was started before the LEM release, it was working perfectly before the update, after the update the fleet manager is not able to manage the fleets very well. I don't know if the fleet manager is broken for new games, it certainly is for existing games.

I'm seeing multiple issues (may be related), the first is over capacity where the number of ships exceed the requested amount. Right now I have fleets with 22/20 corvettes, 15/10 destroyers and 11/10 cruisers.

I'm also seeing a second issue where the fleets double in size. This appears to occur when upgrading and adding ships to an existing fleet at the same time. A fleet with 11 destroyers (and a capacity of 11) ends up with a capacity of 22 destroyers.

Then there is a third issue that causes new fleets to be created without reason, the new fleets seems to be composed of a single ship type, it looks like these ships were destined for other fleets but made no attempt to merge (merging was possible, they were in the same system and were not at war). For example, if I add 5 corvettes, 5 destroyers and 5 cruisers to an existing fleet I end up with 3 new fleets, one with 5 corvettes, one with 5 destroyers and one with 5 cruisers.

There is also an issue with ship classes, fleets seems to be composed of multiple classes of the same ship type. I can't say I've every seen this before, maybe this is also an issue.

Trying to manage fleets in this situation is almost impossible, I seem to spend a huge amount of time splitting and merging fleets to try and get them into a reasonable shape, but this is useless as the fleet manager will break them again at anytime it is used.

I hit this issue a lot in my game. I can't say for sure, but I suspect it's related to when reinforcements are in transit ("fleet will reappear in x years"). In-transit ships don't seem to be counted as part of the fleet (at least not on the fleet manager), so clicking the reinforce fleet button builds those ships again. Combine that with some really long travel times and it's easy to end up with more ships than you requested.

If you don't build reinforcements for a fleet while reinforcements are already MIA, they should still auto-merge properly when they reappear. The only times I've seen the merging fail is if the fleet got overbuilt and ended up with too many ships for the command limit or if the reinforcements reappear and promptly got blocked by something (like an enemy outpost if your fleet is behind enemy lines and outpacing the reinforcements).

Granted, it is a tall order to say "once you start building reinforcements, don't build any more until they all reappear" when fleets can be MIA for five years.

IMO It would help if there was simply an option to reset the fleet composition which is registered on tbe fleet manager, to exactly match what it is in reality. That means if there is a problem caused by reinforcing and merging, you can simply click a button, and the fleet manager will update the fleet composition to whatever it is currently. This would save an awful lot of problems.

Great idea, especially if they can’t easily fix the main source of this problem.
