He graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, 10, and then attended St. Olaf in Northfield, MN, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree. For 16 years he worked as a manager of the JCPenney's shoe department. In 1952, he bought his own business, "Larson's Clothing and He retired in 1968.

His hobbies included woodwork, traveling, golf, and working with his church. He was very active in the Boy Scouts. He served as a trustee, elder, and deacon of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, memorial Services for Mr. Larson will be held at the First Presbyterian Church. Born on June 13, 1924, in Scott City, Kansas, he spent his high school years in Hayward, California. In 1943 he became part of the Army's 163rd Infantry, 41st Division, "The most famous fighting outfit in the Southwest Pacific." By May 1945, he had fought the entire length of New Guinea with battles in Altape, Wakde, Biak, and Zamboanga where he was wounded on March 13, 1945.

In September he was sent to Hiroshima after Japan's surrender, By December 1945, he was on his way home where he received the Purple Heart. After the war he attended Oregon State University at Corvallis and married Mary Ellen Doster on March 22, 1947. They moved to Spokane, WA where he worked for Continental Baking Co for 30 years without a sick day. In his leisure time, Ed would be either fishing or hiking. Ed and Mary Ellen moved to Florence In 1988 where retirement.
